Computers in the Library

CATALOG E-RESOURCES COMPUTERS

  • Access the catalog and research databases
  • Log in to your account to place holds and see your current items out
    • Remember to log out when finished
  • Not Available: Internet and the Microsoft Office Suite applications

Printing

The Library offers Multi Functional Devices (MFDs), which enables printing and photocopying in black/white or color. If used for copying, two-sided prints can be made. The default selection is one-sided black/white prints. Color printing can be selected at the print station kiosk.

Payment in full will be required before printing/copying. The machines will accept $1 and $5 bills, and coins. Payment by card is also available, however there is an additional $2.00 non-refundable usage fee for paying by card.

  • Black/White: $0.15 per page
  • Color: $0.20 per page

Printing is available from any full service computer, as well as wireless from Windows laptops. Wireless printing is not yet available from iOS or Androd devices.

RESERVING A FULL SERVICE COMPUTER

Available on a first come, first served basis.
To log in:
  • Enter your library card # and PIN or guest pass. woman at computer
  • If all computers are in use, you may get in the queue at the waitlist computer.
    • Time: up to 3 hours. 
    • After the first hour, you may need to sign up to the waitlist if computers are busy.
      *Woodland Branch Library: After 30 minutes, you may need to sign up to the waitlist if computers are busy.

Every library has computer terminals with:
  • Privacy screens
  • DVD & CD drive (including Blu-Ray)
  • Internet access
    • Google Chrome
    • Internet Explorer
    • MS Edge 
  • Magnifier
  • Commercially produced filter, blocks sites that might be considered objectionable (optional)
    • After logging on, computer users have the option to turn on Trustwave's filtering software, which blocks sites that might be considered objectionable. Should you find a site blocked that should be reviewed, please let Trustwave know by filling out this form.

Full Service Computers require log in using your Santa Clara County Library District Card number and PIN.

Save files to a USB or email them to yourself. Files are deleted when your session ends.

ADA COMPUTERS

  • Available for the visually and hearing impaired.
  • Access to ZoomText, which offers screen magnification and screen reading.
    *To enable the screen reading function, please have your headphones connected before you open ZoomText.

CHILDREN’S COMPUTERS

  • For ages 14 and under
    • A child using an adult's card will not be able to sign in on the children's computers. All ages are welcome to sign up for a free library card for full access.
  • All the same hardware and software as adult computers
  • All computers in the children's area have Trustwave's filtering software, which blocks sites that might be considered objectionable. Should you find a site blocked that should be reviewed, please let Trustwave know by filling out this form

AWE Early Literacy Stations (ELS)

  • Available for kids ages 2–10.
  • Offers 50 educational software programs in the areas of music, science, math, history, geography, phonics and problem-solving.
  • Both Gilroy Library and Morgan Hill Library also offer the literacy station’s bilingual edition, with programs available in English and Spanish.
